On Mission Together – A Call to Regroup and Refocus!
After a long, difficult year of hardships and separation in a variety of ways, we are thrilled to be reassembling again as a united church body! In this post-COVID season and beyond, we will be moving forward in new and revitalized ways as we commit ourselves to prioritizing the Lord’s work in and through us at Chelten. The Bible records for us that the people of God were in a somewhat similar, though very different, situation over 2,500 years ago when they returned from exile to Jerusalem, the center of worship and witness in the world. After being conquered, taken captive, and scattered throughout the Babylonian Empire for seventy years, God’s people returned back to their assembly weak, disoriented, and lacking the vision and zeal needed to reunite them on mission for God. Haggai, an Old Testament prophet, is then sent by God to stir up the people and guide them forward with a revitalized worship and refocused mission. It worked! What did Haggai say!? What did God do that revitalized his people in worship and on mission!? Could he do the same in and through us today?
During our weekend, Pastor Austin Delgado will lead us in studying God’s prophecies through Haggai and reflecting on their relevance for us and our church body today. In four sessions, Austin will preach through Haggai’s two-chapter book and following each session, we will break into small groups for further reflection and applications of God’s Word to our lives. We trust that our time together will strengthen us and send us back to our families, church body, and community with a revitalized worship and refocused zeal to carry out the mission of God as ambassadors of Jesus Christ. Hope to see you there!
