“By What Authority?”

Read Mark 11:27–12:12

Discussion Questions

  • How does human authority overrule divine authority in our society?
  • What happens in your heart when King Jesus asks you to do something that is hard to obey?
  • Think about two reasons why it’s so much better to let Jesus rule your life than yourself.

Welcome, Max!

We want to share with you how God has answered the prayers of our church.

Following the transition of our previous music director, we have been praying for God to bring the right person for our church.

The elders created a new role, and the search committee was formed to find a part-time music director who would continue to mobilize our music volunteers to lead us in musical worship. We asked the church to pray for discernment in finding the individual God had already appointed for this position.
Today we are delighted to announce that God has answered our prayers.

After multiple interviews and rehearsals, the search committee unanimously recommended Max Bruestle for the new position, and last Monday, our elders approved his hire.

Max will begin his new role in June, and we ask that you continue to pray for our church and Max during this transition time. We are excited about the future of our music ministry.

We thank God for answering our prayers and for bringing Max to our church.

To God be the glory!

Baptism declares that you are a follower of Jesus Christ. It’s the next step after salvation through repentance and faith and is an important foundation for the Christian life. If you’ve put your trust in Jesus’ death and resurrection and are ready to go public with that confession—showing the world that you love, trust, and have put your hope in Christ—we invite you to be baptized here at Chelten on Sunday, April 23.

“Going under the water was a burial of your old life; coming up out of it was a resurrection, God raising you from the dead as he did Christ. When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive—right along with Christ! Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ’s cross.” Colossians 2:12-14 MSG

Please sign up at the Welcome Center by April 9.
