“The Mystery and Grace of the Church”

Discussion Questions

  • How can we encourage each other in suffering and struggles to look towards hope?
  • The wisdom of God is to be made known through the church (v.10). How do you represent Him in a way that you treat and love other believers?
  • How will you resolve to participate in the life of the church? What are some practical ways for you to get involved?

It looks like it might rain this Sunday causing us to move our kid’s classes indoors. Here are a few things you need to know:

Children will be checked in at the Children’s welcome area.  Parents will be directed where to drop their young child off. Elementary children will begin with their families in the worship service and then join their teachers. We can tell you in the welcome center where to pick up your elementary child.

The discussion regarding masks and children’s ministries has been extensive. We have not met one parent who likes to see their child in a mask. One reason we are outside is to allow kids to be free of masks while remaining as safe as possible. This week we were made aware that due to the shared space we have with CCDC, our daycare and preschool, we need to follow the mask order for schools that was made effective on September 7, 2021. This means that everyone (age 2 and above) in the Children’s Ministries wing needs to wear a mask regardless of vaccination status. Please note that this is only in the Children’s area. Per our Elder and PLT June decision, masks remain optional throughout other parts of the building and programs. Not sure where the children’s area is?  It’s the green, yellow, and blue hallways that most of you haven’t seen in a year and a half.

We know that each parent will resonate differently with this announcement. Some may see it as an extra step in protecting their children and some may experience disappointment and others may see it as an infringement on their parental rights. We hear you and we love you and your kids! We are still in a challenging time and we want to support all of our church ministries well. It is the desire of our PLT and Elder board to have unity among our worshippers at Chelten. We get to worship God no matter what our circumstances. Let’s make this Sunday the best day yet for our kids!

If you are interested in becoming a community group leader, please join us today at 12:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall!

Community groups are designed to be safe places for people at any stage of their Christian walk. Our goal is the journey as well as the destination. Group members work hard to establish trust as they share life with each other. They do this by holding things confidential, which leads to open and authentic relationships. Baptism declares that you are a follower of Jesus Christ. It’s the next step after salvation through repentance and faith and is an important foundation for the Christian life. If you’ve put your trust in Jesus’ death and resurrection and are ready to go public with that confession—showing the world that you love, trust, and have put your hope in Christ—we invite you to be baptized here at Chelten on Sunday, October 31.

“Going under the water was a burial of your old life; coming up out of it was a resurrection, God raising you from the dead as he did Christ. When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive—right along with Christ! Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ’s cross.” Colossians 2:12-14 MSG

Please sign up at the Welcome Center by October 17.
